How To Program A Sound Chip featured image

Our clients, (project engineers, entrepreneurs, sound chip dealers, and even college students) are often wondering how they can put the audio data into a voice ic when they are developing electronic appliances for consumer markets.

Since this is the first step to knowing how the sound ic works.

However, Programming a sound chip is just as simple as dragging and dropping a file into a virtual disk on computers as long as you have the following tools which are usually provided by the original voice ic manufacturers.

  • Host computer: which helps you compile audio into bin file.
  • Programmer: burn the bin file into voice ic

Let’s take the WayTronic WT588F programmer as an example

1. Registration and login

Open the URL of the host computer on the WT588F web page to register or log in

Currently, you can only register through a Chinese phone number. For overseas customers, please use the invitation code (please contact our salesman)

2. Open the WT588F interface

After logging in, open “WT588F” under the “Voice Production” menu on the left

And please click WT588F

3. make WT588F project

A) Click the “New ITEM” menu to create a new project

B) After opening “New Project”, fill in the project information

For details, please refer to Figure the explanation of terms. After filling in, click “Next step” in the upper right corner of the interface to enter the “Upload Audio” and “Add TTS” interface.

C) Add audio.

Two situations are encountered:

  1. we have audio data (audio files)
  2. we do not have audio data (audio files)

C.1 The method of adding audio file(we have audio data)is as follows:

Click the “Upload Audio” button follow the path to find the audio files used in the production project, and then select all to add audio files in batches. WAV format requirements: sampling rate cannot exceed 16KHz, mono; MP3 format requirements: sampling rate cannot exceed 24KHz.

PS: The order of the audio files is best arranged in the order you want, so you need to change the file name to achieve the order you want. Refer to the specific adding method .

Delete and modify audio:

you can delete and modify individually or in batches

C.2 The adding method without audio data is as follows

Click the “TTS” button to enter the TTS speech synthesis interface (Figure 10), customize the voice according to your own needs, and then click “Batch Add” to add the voice, (Figure 11) is the interface after adding the voice.

D. Add the audio to the address corresponding to the chip.

Click the “Address List” button to enter the chip address adding interface. Please refer to the interface function explanation

Method 1

It is recommended to use the “one-click join” function, which can easily add audio to the corresponding address list one by one according to the audio sequence.

For example: Figure 8 is the audio list that has been added, after using the “one-click to join” function, that is

000H corresponds to a00, 001H corresponds to a01, 002H corresponds to a02, 003H corresponds to a03…one-to-one correspondence goes on.

PS: To use the “one-click join” function, we must arrange the audio sequence in advance when adding audio.

Method 2

To add a single address, first select the chip address, then click “Add Audio”, and click “Confirm” to add voice

Multiple audio files can be added to a single address. These audio files can be combined freely, and a custom-length mute can also be inserted between voices

4. Save the project and synthesize bin files

When we are making voice projects, we must develop a good habit of diligently saving to avoid data loss due to computer power failure.

A) Save the voice engineering project

In order to see whether the bin file generated by the engineering voice exceeds the capacity of the chip we are currently using, the engineering voice must be added to the address of the chip and click “Save” to display it.

B) Synthesize bin files

After we finish all the steps of speech engineering production, click “Save”, and then click the “Synthesis bin” button, a bin file download dialog box will appear (Figure 16), select the path and give the name (beginning with WT588F_) ), download the Bin file, and now the entire WT588F project is completed

5. Copy, modify, download voice engineering, etc.

Back to the home page of the WT588F website, we can perform some other operations

  1. Modify the project: Click the “Edit” button behind the project to modify the project, and the original project will be modified after saving.
  2. Copy project: Copy a same voice project.
  3. Delete project: delete the selected voice project.
  4. Bin file download: no need to click into the voice project to download.
  5. Export work order: export the EXCEL file with project setting parameters.
  6. Package download: download the voice project file, voice file and related documents.
  7. Query project: query historical project.

#2 Burn Bin Files Into Voice IC by Programmer

In this section, we will try to get you acquainted with the tool: programmer, and then introduce how to send bin files to ICs step by step.

2. Steps of put audio data into voice ic

  1. put the ic into the adaptor, put the adaptor to the programmer
  2. copy the bin from pc
  3. push the download to program the IC
  4. push the button to test
